ODC Design was engaged to design and deliver the new office fit out for Lloyd’s Register located at Level 16, 461 Bourke Street in Melbourne. Lloyd’s Register was seeking a practical yet innovative, contemporary design solution to incorporate an open plan layout whilst maximising the city aspects and natural light. With this in mind, our client was reducing to half of their original office space.
The waiting area is well defined with a timber and glass wall cabinet which displays the company’s memorabilia and registry certificates. Feature wall lights and paint finishes create a professional and comfortable entrance. A critical component of the brief was for the staff workstations to be generic and small in density to create an activity based work environment. Each staff member has a personal locker to place their belongings and plants on top of storage units, creating focal points which assist to break up the open plan workspace.
The spacious break out area was designed as a relaxed and accessible hub for staff to interact and recharge, which includes comfortable high bench seating to utilise the Melbourne skyline outlook. Timber joinery and blue rectangular brick patterned tiles add a splash of colour and successfully tie into the company’s corporate branding.
